Regulations for the Use and Maintenance of Operating Room Instruments and Supplies
The use and maintenance of operating room instruments and supplies are operational guidelines established by medical institutions for surgical instruments, covering instrument storage, cleaning and maintenance, and loan management. Instruments, dressings, and other supplies are the responsibility of designated personnel for storage, regular inspection, inventory, disposal, requisition, and repair/replenishment. They should be thoroughly cleaned and oiled monthly, and all items should be inventoried every 3-6 months.

Emergency supplies may not be loaned out; other items require registration and approval for loan, and loans from outside the hospital require approval from the Medical Affairs Department. Blankets, blankets, stretchers, and IV stands, which are easily lost, are the responsibility of designated personnel, with daily shift handover.

Metal instruments must be cleaned and rust-proofed after use; sharp instruments should be disposed of separately. Cystoscopes must be inspected before use, rinsed after disinfection, and oiled before storage. Thoracic and laparoscopes are autoclaved; laryngoscopes require circuit inspection and step-by-step disinfection. Laser surgical instruments require dust protection; surgical microscopes should be stored in a fixed location and protected from moisture.

General Metal Instrument Maintenance: During surgery, instruments should be selected and used appropriately, and should not be thrown around carelessly. Keep joints flexible and tips closed. After use, wash with clean water, boil, wipe dry, or dry with oil to prevent rusting, then return to the instrument cabinet with the door closed.

Sharp Instruments: Blades, fine scissors, bone scalpels, and ENT instruments should be handled separately from other general instruments. Handle with care, taking extra care to protect their sharp edges. After surgery, dispose of them separately from other instruments.
